Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Child-Centered Play Therapist with specialized training in Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) to join our team. This dual-role position involves providing non-directive play therapy to children and facilitating evidence-based CPRT groups for caregivers. The therapist will support emotional growth, healing, and stronger parent-child bonds through individual sessions and structured parent group interventions.



Key Responsibilities:

Individual Play Therapy (Child-Centered):

Provide non-directive, child-led play therapy to children ages 3–12 in a safe and supportive therapeutic environment.

Build trusting therapeutic relationships to help children express emotions, resolve trauma, and develop coping skills through play.

Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with caregivers and referring professionals.

Maintain clinical documentation in accordance with legal, ethical, and agency standards.


Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT):

Facilitate CPRT groups using evidence-based curriculum.

Provide education, coaching, and support to parents/caregivers to strengthen their relationships with their children through therapeutic play techniques.

Lead group sessions focused on improving attachment, empathy, and communication between parent and child.

Monitor group dynamics, maintain confidentiality, and ensure psychological safety for participants.


Collaborative & Administrative Duties:

Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding therapeutic progress while maintaining appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.

Work collaboratively with school staff, case managers, and other service providers as needed.

Participate in supervision, team meetings, training, and continuing education.

Assist in program development and outreach related to CPRT and play therapy services.



Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

Current licensure or license-eligibility (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT) in TX.

Specialized training and experience in Child-Centered Play Therapy.

Specialized training in facilitating Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT).

Minimum of 2 years clinical experience with children and families.

Deep understanding of attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and child development.

Strong group facilitation skills and cultural humility.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.



Preferred Qualifications:

Registered Play Therapist (RPT) or in process of obtaining certification.

Certified in CCPT.

Certified in CPRT.

Bilingual (e.g., English/Spanish) is highly desirable.

Experience working in community mental health, schools, or non-profit settings.



Work Environment:

Therapy provided in a fully equipped playroom.

CPRT groups offered in person or virtually, depending on client needs and program setup.

May require some evening availability for parent groups.
